Encontrei a praia!

Sorry Friends & Family it's been a while since my last post, but things have been picking up here at work and I am still waiting on internet at home!  Some of the hours I've been working lately take me back to the good old Financial Planning days at DTV.  At least I've caught up to speed and learned enough office Portuguese  to now be able to contriubte, so there is some satisfaction in that.  It has definitely been nice getting into a routine and having São Paulo feel like home.  Two weekends ago I got the chance to ride the subway and even take a bus while learning how to get around town.  It is a huge city that I've only been able to see a part of, but look forward to exploring more as I go.  Most weekends people from work invite me along to join in things they're doing.  I've also had an incredibly lucky streak of football watching and have gotten all 3 Broncos games so far and am in line to see this Sunday's as well.  Generally we get the Thursday and Monday night games and 3 games on Sunday.  I'm sure my luck will run out soon enough, but hopefully I have internet by then.  I wouldn't call the setup I have ideal for watching football since I still don't have a couch either, but I sit in my plastic chairs wearing my Peyton Manning shirt and watch the Portugese broadcast.  The time difference doesn't help much either considering the late games start at nearly 10 p.m. here.  None of that really bothers me so long as I get to see my game.

Last week I got the opportunity to attend a sales conference in the Northeasern city of Recife.  We stayed in a resort-type hotel right on the shoreline and it was my first glimpse of a beach in Brazil.  It took me 5 weeks to finally find the ocean but the view from there was definitely worth the wait (see below).  The water was crystal clear so I had to take the opportunity to jump in the Atlantic Ocean.  To me the water was very warm, but they told me it will only get warmer as we get closer to summer here.  I understood most of what they were saying at the conference and was glad to be able to see a different part of the country.

I'm sure there is plenty more to tell that I'm forgetting right now (it has been a long week after all) but I'll try to keep this updated more frequently so that I don't miss anything.
